PMT Technologies releases the new GAMMA range of portable measuring arms
The new GAMMA range from PMT introduces the latest technology in portable arms with new features and advancements, including
World-first external decoupling and internal balancing system for greater stability and balance and lighter weight
Force-isolation design – to improve the balance of the system when using the scanner.
Four-jaw quick mounting base collar – reduces double handling for easier set-up
Smart sensing probe system – lighter weight, quick replacement without recalibration, compatible with the existing versatile probe system
The PMT GAMMA range is available in three accuracy grades: GAMMA P, flagship grade; GAMMA M, standard series; and GAMMA E, economy series. So, there is an Arm available for any application and any budget.
The PMT range is available in measuring volumes from 1.5 to 4.5 metres and in both six- and seven-axis versions. There is a multitude of choice with the PMT range, which now includes two new laser line scanners with blue laser light for better resolution and confident scanning of bright, shiny surfaces.
Latest Features
New Eighth-Axis Rotation
Scan More Confidently and Quickly
An 8-axis rotary worktable offers an extended measuring range, enabling users to scan, measure and digitize features on small and large parts using a single arm position. As a result, measuring time can be reduced by up to 40% compared to a standard 7-axis arm.
Improve Operator Efficiency
It removes the concern of measuring dead spots, ensuring minimal disruption to inspection tasks. It also helps digitize complex parts more thoroughly and quickly.
Accelerate Subsequent Processing Tasks
Subsequent processing tasks are simplified and sped up due to the reduced number of scans that need to be aligned, as there is no need to move the measuring arm around the part or reposition the part to capture all the necessary features.
Choice of Probe Connections
The new GAMMA portable arm range from PMT now includes the choice of two probe connection styles: the standard screw-on type with removable tips and the latest generation of smart probes with IJK connectors.
New blue laser scanner
The new PMT GAMMA range of portable arms now includes two laser line scanners with blue laser light in standard SD and high-definition HD models for higher-resolution scanning and easy scanning of difficult surfaces.
The PMT portable arm range from China represents the culmination of five years of design and development in Germany from a team of industrial designers to develop a world-class portable measuring arm range, the ALPHA range. The PMT portable arm range consists of six and seven-axis models with measuring volumes extending from 1.5 to 4.5 metres.
Three Different Accuracy Grades
The PMT ALPHA portable arm range is available in three accuracy grades, P, M and E. The E version is a special product aimed at the educational market to help students understand portable dimensional metrology.
A Range of Software Options
The PMT Arm range is available with a range of software options including Metrolog X4 for fast and easy inspection and reporting and for all scanning and reverse engineering tasks. PMT Technology’s own developed software CAM 3 is also available for basic metrology tasks at a very affordable cost.
Alicona, part of the Bruker group releases a brand new product to their world-class range of focus variation systems, the FocusX, with a small form factor and 100×100 mm X-Y stage and 100 mm Z-height adjustment.
Alicona FocusX is a new intermediate size focus variation system that uses the same technology as the larger CMM and G6 systems, but with a smaller footprint and a lower entry cost.

LuphoScan is game-changing technology for measuring 3D form
The LUPHOScan HD 850 builds upon the major success of the LUPHOScan 260 and 600 models with superior accuracy, lower noise and exceptional RMS values as low as 5 nanometers. The system is capable of measuring aspheres, diffractives and other more complex free-form surfaces.
Based on a patented interferometric scanning metrology system using multi-wavelength interferometry (MWLI®), the LUPHOScan uses technology to produce exceptional and highly repeatable measurement results.
Verisurf 2021 has just been released by developers Verisurf Software Inc. and includes a host of new features that will help users to improve productivity.
5-axis CMM programming capability. New Enable 5-Axis Moves in Automate-Generate Path adds all the benefits that come with head-touches including 5-axis tactile scanning. Probing points by means of articulating the head instead of moving the heavy mass of the CMM’s movable structure offers speed and accuracy benefits. Programming of a probe head that can articulate to complex angles to acquire points is a bit advanced, but Verisurf makes it easy.
